1. Entrepreneurial thinking is often influenced by the environment that we are faced with, whether it be on a global or local level. For example, look at Hurricane Katrina. After the storm, many people were focused on how to prevent something like that from happening again. I've even heard of a man who bought acres upon acres of land surrounding New Orleans before the storm hit. He designated his land as a landfill site, and as a result, the government bought it from him as a part of the Katrina Relief fund. But entrepreneurial thinking doesn't just come from the massive destruction of a city. A few years back someone noticed how inconvenient it was to have small notes on a regular sheet of paper. So they cut the paper into tiny little squares and put glue on the back of them, and today we have Post-it Notes.
2. Knowing that environmental factors influence entrepreneurial thinking, we can look at both our historical context and local surroundings. In today's historical context, the Covid-19 Pandemic can be a strong influential factor. On a more personal level, college loans might hinder me from pursuing an entrepreneurial path right after college. However, that can change later in life.
