A major societal factor that has effected entrepreneurship throughout history is technology.  As a technology becomes more widely adopted and improved, it also becomes easier for an entrepreneur to take advantage of it and leverage it for their own idea.  The Gutenberg Press allowed publishers to come out of the woodwork to publish more and more books. The radio allowed people to share ideas from around the world and connect with millions of people that they never could before.  High-definition cameras in phones allow anyone to become a filmmaker. And so on and so forth. If you have an idea to leverage, chances are there's a technology out there that you can take advantage of. It may not have every component that you need, but it provides a starting point.

For me personally, the accessibility and advancement of technology have helped empower every entrepreneurial or creative idea that I've had either for myself or working with a client.  The possibilities available for kickstarting any idea are mind-boggling.  For a current idea that I have, technology will only get the idea so far before I need to plot out other technological needs and research what kind of developers I need to realize that vision- as well as figure out what it would cost, and how feasible it would be.
