It is interesting to me, as someone who has fought many battles with irreverent conservative Christians who do not believe in climate change, the idea that these beliefs stem from a deeper and long held mythology of man's power of nature rather than ignorance. Understanding that Christian ideas about nature have been warped over time is extremely crucial in maintaining patience and empathy towards those you do not agree with. This is a new idea for me and something that will require some practice. I don't think I've really thought about how something like those early medieval Christian beliefs could have such a profound impact on our society today.
