The thought that women are somehow interlocked to nature is new to me but also fascinating.  It is an interesting way of looking at nature and how we treat the environment. One of the most fascinating parts was the four core assumptions of Ecofeminism.

" (1) There are important connections between the oppression of women and the oppression of nature; (2) understanding the nature of these connections is necessary to any adequate understanding of the oppression of women and the oppression of nature; (3) feminist theory and practice must include an ecological perspective; and (4) solutions to ecological problems must include a feminist perspective."

Throughout this class, we have talked about many different variations of our human connection to the environment, to nature, and how we fit. After reading this chapter about Ecofeminism I can see new connections of how women intersect in these theories. The first thing I thought of was the story of Gaia and how we are taught as children to refer to earth as a female. Mother Earth. I think in many ways women are looked upon as tender and dangerous creatures. We need a different type of caring for and yet with our intriguing complexities, we are often misunderstood. The same can be said for the earth and the way we treat nature. If we were to look at nature and our environment as a living support system something that nurtures us and gives us life then we would take better care of it. We would then find the importance of teaching our children that our environment and nature are living. Instead, the reading highlights how we objectify the earth for our needs.  Also how women are objectified. The entire women and nature structure is encompass new meaning for me.
