In The Odyssey, on page 266, the men heard a women’s voice that could be of a goddess. She invited them into her home where she had them sit. She started to make a potion involving food, wine and potent drugs. Once they drank the mixture, she struck them with her wand to turn them into pigs. She varied what she would turn the men into in general, but the cattle was used to guard her home. In order to avoid the potion taking its toll on someone, a certain herb (Pg. 268) that prevents the magic.

What I am curious about is what makes the difference between a goddess and a witch. I do not know much about this topic in general so I really could be wrong. But, from what I believe I know is that a god or goddess is very powerful and can use their power whenever they want through their bodies alone. A witch needs to siphon magic from other things. When using a wand, does that make a difference is what kind of goddess she is? Also, if she is a goddess and powerful, how come she needs to make a potion to put people to sleep before changing them?
