Going off the podcast, the women stated how Hildegard became a nun at age 8. She was the youngest of 10, so the parents did not need her for the family lineage and success, so they gave her to the church as payment or something. She was supposed to pray for her family while she was there. This was a common thing in the past when families had lots of children. So did the children who were given to the church ever think they were worthless since their parents gave them up? Or did they find it normal and not think a thing of it?

Hildegard was a cloistered nun. This means she never saw the outside worth and lived by a strict routine. If it weren't for her having visions at age 3, would people have thought she got her visions from being locked in a confined area for her life? Also, did people outside the convent ever think Hildegard was just a crazy person for seeing things? The cloister nuns basically live similar to a prisoner, so I would think living a very strict routine and not having chosen that life would make someone go crazy.
