When reading the beginning of the article the few lines of Hildegarde's warning, "If we abuse our position to commit evil deeds, God’s judgment will permit other creatures to punish us,’’ made me the most interested.  I find that her ideas are way ahead of her time even in spite of her interpreting it in a theological way. I think that if you take God out of her thoughts it is still very relevant today that people have constantly took advantage of their position in the world to take care of nature. Her ideas show that she understands how people have been unwilling to see the bigger picture in how they treat nature.

Viriditas in general to Hildegard seems to represent being able to find God in all things throughout nature. She seems to be one of the first major schools of thought that makes the environment an important part of Theology. I believe that her thoughts on ecological importance are both unprecedented for the time and still applicable today.
