The most interesting point that I've heard in regards to Hildegard is made in the article, the Original Green Campaign by John Dadosky. Dadosky cites different lyrics from Hildegard's songs that support a unique view of the environment within Christianity. Essentially, Hildegard is saying that humans were created with nature inside of us. She says that we are al God's creations and therefore are all connected through the creation of humanity as well as nature. This is intriguing to me, because it addresses that climate change will not only effect the world around us, it will effect us deep within as well. If you think about it, she really was onto something there. While yes, when we strip away all the nutrients from the Earth from destructive farming and plastic pollutants fill up our water supplies and kill marine and land life, we will feel those effects- but that may seem far off. Right now we are literally eating meat that is pumped full of antibiotics and vegetables that are sprayed with chemicals and raised from dirt mixed with toxic fertilizers. The environmental damage is already deeply impacting us all within, literally and metaphorically. Anyway, Hildegard is a boss bitch nun and I love her. Thank you for your time.
