The spread of disease within the Americas was inevitable given the situation. The Spaniards brought over disease, causing the indigenous population to drop drastically after contact. This death was influential to the near future of the indigenous people. This contact with disease led to the loss of many lives, something that gave the Spaniards more ability to colonize the land. The indigenous people couldn’t counteract this because of how new it was, and so the the spread of disease was unpreventable. This was worsened due to the inability to receive aid or help from the Spaniards at the time. This series of events had repercussion to the future of indigenous people, and was definitely one of the many things that led up to the injustices that Indigenous people face to this day. The effects of this spread of disease is possibly one of the easiest to notice within society today.
