I found The Two Mice fable to be applicable to our current society as well as societies that we have talked about in this class. The idea of living a simple life, free of fancy foods, and high-class life made me think of our discussion on Epicureanism. I found it interesting that this moral of not needing an extravagant lifestyle to be safe, healthy, and happy was a common school of thought across many regions in antiquity.
Additionally, I thought the use of animals to illustrate this story made the idea itself seem much more simplistic. By using animals as the target of the story, readers were likely more intrigued to read and think about the story's message because it wasn't as obvious as it would have been with human characters.
