When reading the story of the two mice I cannot help but think about the ideas of Epicureanism and their view that a simple life is ideal. The moral of the fable is that it is overall better for your life to be happy with your simple possessions (country mouse) instead of trying to risk gaining more (town mouse). The fable sees the dangers and risk of attaining greater wealth as too much of a risk and overall warns against the dangers of being greedy.

I think Epicurean followers would agree worth the fable fully, and that it fits in directly with their idea of pleasure. To them simple pleasure should be your goal in life because it removes the absence of any pain or struggle for you. There is no desire for Epicureans to want more because the desire for higher end possessions only bring more problems than they are worth. Overall, I find it interesting that the moral of this story fits in really well with an ancient philosophy.
