After reading The Two Mice I noticed that the author of this story was using mice as a way to show human nature. It was a sort of "there are two kinds of people in this world" story. It the idea that some people enjoy the simple life. They would rather live in a place they have always known and do things the way they have always done them. Its supposedly the life of stability, ease, and comfort. Other the other side represented by the second sister there is the life of adventure. The people that always want more. The ones they would rather die doing something they love than live the way the other side does. The interesting thing about this story to me is the fact that the author is such a supporter of the simple life. He explains that the adventurous mouse is greedy and will never be satisfied. Perhaps, it is the idealized American dream or maybe this author is unique, but in today’s world adventure is pushed more than comfort. From my modern point of view it seems so strange to tell a story that encourages people to stay the same because today we are always taught that if you are not trying to get more of anything you are doing something wrong.
