I think that while the over arching message of the Two Mice fable is good morality there is more to be explored. While reading this not only was I focused on the characters story but their environment as well. Another message that can be pulled from this is distinction from city and farm life the two mice come from and the life they experienced while in the others home. There was freedom in the rural lands with no fees to pay and no places of limits like in the city. However, in the rural area the city mouse found none of her delicacies and scorned her sister for it even though she was content. When they returned to the city the older sister explained that there was no fear of cats or poison to her younger sister. However, there was still fear instilled with the younger sister and she returned to the fields where she was happy. This brings to light the comforts of living in nature and its benefits of the mouse who would not return to the city.
