The animal epigraphs of Anyte of Tegea were interesting because of their loving language descriptions of the animals. There was a kind of peaceful solidarity with the creatures that died and it seemed to represent a respect that has been lacking in many of our past ancient texts that we have read. There is such an anthropomorphism happening through the idea of eulogies for the common pets that is very touching.
The poem I liked the most out of this selection was "For the Rooster". I think that the description of waking with the dawn brings back the simplicity of the country life that they had had in the past.
