I have two options for my second story.
My first option is to write about my aunt who was Miss Alabama 1970 and also attended BSC during her time as Miss Alabama. This story would be interesting because she can tell me about what BSC was like in 1970 as well as what it was like to be Miss Alabama while attending college. She can talk about all of her campaigns and duties that came with being Miss Alabama. I ran into a problem with that story trying to get a time that works for both of us to do an interview.
In the case that I cannot get an interview in time for the first story, I might do a piece on commuter life/ student housing options in downtown Birmingham. This story has a few angles I could talk about what it is like to be a commuter or the pricing of student housing in general and how expensive it can be/ ways to save money. This story would be easier for me because of a few reasons:
1. I am a commuter myself
2. I work as a leasing agent at a luxury student housing complex in Five Points Birmingham
3. I used to work at an older student housing complex on 3rd Ave in Birmingham
So I have experience on both ends of the pricing spectrum as well as connections with people who have been running student housing for a very long time.
