I would like more details from these interviews. I want to hear all the "stuff" that your interview subjects mentioned. They seem like great sources, so I'm sure they were helpful for you, but how might you use this information specifically? Either for visuals, or for character development, or for story development. For example, I like the idea that Joaquin doesn't have the patience for the mundane investigation but maybe learns important rules from Simon.
I like the idea of having to burn down a building if someone suspects it has an evil spirit. Perhaps Joaquin has the Chindi in himself, but he feels he must burn down his childhood home, or maybe he wants to burn down something involving the slave operation. But Simon protests. Maybe simply because it's illegal to commit arson, or maybe because there could be evidence in there. This ties in with Simon being a very patient and process-oriented detective.
