One of your options — for which you've already completed reporting — is the "Silent No More" program and Ukraine fundraiser you attended last week.

But there are several promising pitches here too. My first choice would probably be the swim team story. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the swim team gets less coverage than basketball, football, and baseball.

Ditto the Honor Council. I suspect a lot of students have only a dim understanding of what the Honor Council does, much less when it began. Everybody signs the pledge, but how many students read it before signing or even think about it?

Finally, the Black Male Initiative program is also a good topic. As for the gala, Troy also included that topic in his pitches and I advised a broader story on the Black Student Union. I don't know anything about the controversial Insta post you mention, so I can't comment on its newsworthiness. But the key thing is that if you both wound up writing stories about the Black Student Union, you'd want to communicate about your angles and figure out how to avoid duplicating efforts.

I am writing my story on the "Silent No More" event. I interviewed the organizer, Garreth Jones and have some quotes from DJ Mike Honcho from the q&a portion of the event.
