Character Idea
This can be a great story, but as you have it structured, it will be hard to make it into a 3-5 minute movie. I suggest you compress it. Perhaps it begins at Jake's funeral, or with images of Levi remembering Jake, who is already dead. PP1 could be when he meets the dog. Act 2 involves Levi trying to do things to remember Jake (build something, paint something?) and he keeps getting distracted from his goal because the dog wants to play, get into trouble, etc. This builds towards a climax that makes Levi realize Jake's spirit is still with him.
