Character Proposal

Great idea for a short film. The character biography is not quite what I'm looking for. Read the guidelines.
The plot structure might be a little too much for a 3-5 minute film, but it might work. Ending on a cliffhanger is not what I'm looking for. Give it a real ending. The audience needs to know who killed his friend. Or, if we never know, then Dean himself must believe that it's possible that he did it.
I suggest Plot Point #1 is not only realizing his friend is dead, but his attempt to find out who killed him. How will he investigate? Is there someone else in the shop that he can talk to about it? Perhaps his boss is there.
Midpoint is the cops arriving.
If the climax is a chase scene, the what is Plot Point #2, which should happen just before the chase scene? It should be something that makes Dean realize he is not going to be able to solve the crime. The fact that he is holding the murder weapon didn't occur to him until Plot Point #2.
So, perhaps during Act 2, his boss is there and making suggestions to Dean and to the cops.
If the boss killed the friend, then why? This can come out in the action. Perhaps the audience sees the boss planting evidence, but the police and Dean don't see it.
