Good workshop yesterday.
Here is what I’m looking for in this assignment:
Structure – 30%
Looking for a clear Plot Point 1 and Plot Point 2
And a Midpoint: an unexpected Middle in Act 2, tied to the climax
--as we discussed in the workshop, your set up works, but the Midpoint, Plot Point 2, and Climax are not clear
Character – 30%
Golden Rule/Dramatic Need/Character Arc
--the dramatic need makes sense, but what are the obstacles? What is the alternative for Eileen if Jen chooses to abandon her? And what makes Jen change her mind?
Visual Writing/Description/Dialogue – 20%
Visual descriptions (and aural); Sharp dialogue
--you depend on vocal narration; is there a way to tell this story visually?
--otherwise, the writing style is strong
Format – 20%
Professional format, spelling, grammar
--see my notes on the hard copy (if any)
--try to cut it down to 5 pages
