Subject: A 64 year old man fresh off of hip replacement surgery has one post-recovery goal in mind: to dunk a basketball

Beginning: Lloyd Howard is wheeled out of the hospital by his son following his surgery.

PP1: He decides we wants to try and recapture his glory days through his rehab by dunking a basketball. This choice is inspired by seeing a game on TV in the hospital lobby.

PP2: He attempts to dunk on a 10 foot goal after months of rehab and preparation, but fails miserably, possibly injuring his hip again.

Ending: His son lowers the goal a little bit for him to dunk after giving an inspiring speech about Lloyd's perseverance.

Great idea either for a comedy or a heartwarming drama. This version differs from your workshop in class (ending with the man's death). Which will you choose? Either way, put up several minor obstacles in Act 2. I suggest PP2 is not the attempt, but something happens that makes the man believe he is ready to make the attempt, or perhaps he is forced to make the attempt despite not being ready.
