During the interview, she told everyone that she specializes in teaching blind children. The thing that caught my attention was that she is also a mobility specialist for these children. Not only teaching them academics (which is very important) but skills children need in life. For examples like communication skills, mobility, and other life skills needed for them to become members of society.

Thank you so much for pointing this out! There was so much to unpack in that video that I know that I definitely glossed over that. I've never really given much thought to how I move in the world and how that would be impacted if I had a disability and this video was eye opening to the kind of extra work people with disabilities face. I think it's important that we normalize this type of learning and unlearn the stigma surrounding it so that people with disabilities have a safe space where they can learn and grow the same as everyone else without the added pressure of having to "prove themselves" in the way that the principal put the pressure on that student.
