Do you think that the ethical reasons for or against plant-based meat alternatives are more convincing?

I think that the plant based meat alternatives are a great idea. It reduces the amount of animals killed and it could help prevent global warming.

I knew that plant-based meats were good alternatives for people with allergies or those who do not eat meat, but I didn't know that this helped with the sustainability of the environment and sustaining livestock farms.

My dad has been vegan for years, so I already knew a good bit about how being plant based can be better for the environment and ourselves. I know that it is more ethical to have a plant based diet rather than one with meat in it, but I just can't bring myself to quit eating certain foods that have meat in them. It is also especially difficult to be plant based when a lot of those options are rare and very expensive, it proves to be even more difficult for college students like ourselves since we aren't exactly millionaires or have the time to go to Whole Foods to buy special plant-based options. While the ethical reasons for plant based-meat alternatives are more convincing than those against, the availability makes it difficult for the majority of people to start and maintain this lifestyle.

I was unaware of how many additives and how processed plant-based proteins were. I always assumed it was a "healthier option". Most of our food is processed anyways but I did not know how almost natural plant-based protein products are.

I found the environmental aspect very interesting. I think ethical reasons for plant-based meat alternatives are more convincing based on the fact that we will not be able to keep up with population growth and the demand for meat. Plant-based alternatives may be the only thing available in the future.

When answering this questions it helps to know that plant-based eating can have an effect on our environment and its not just for those who can't or do not like to eat meat. I do think that this is good information to have and know about plant based foods. I would still want to look further into what the nutritional values are before making a decision.

While I can see some of the arguments against plant based meat alternatives, I don’t see that as more convincing than the ethical reasons for plant based foods. I personally enjoy both meat, and meat alternatives. I don’t mind implementing meat alternatives into my diet more often
