Bogle talks about how for most black actresses the 1980's wasn't the best time for them but when the 90's came along a lot of actresses had a break out, like Joie Lee and Tisha Campbell but for this writing I'm gonna talk about Whitney Houston and the 1995 film "Waiting to Exhale" and how it was a huge breakout to reach a black female audience. The way the movie flowed directed by Forest Whittaker was a very relaxed tone and allowed the actresses to break out and show a variety of characterizations helping them land more movies, and having four black actresses going through a romantic and understanding time allowed for a new audience to go to the movie theaters and enjoy and relate to the message of the movie. I chose Whitney Houston for this prompt because her career path was a bit different than other black actresses of her time considering she was a huge music star which drove more attention to herself and the movie

A part of this chapter I found interesting was Angela basset and how she was portrayed in movie roles in the 90's. I saw her name in the reading and I recognized it and looked it up to put a face to it and immediately recognized her and realized that it wasn't until after the 90's she started playing in super important roles and was able to represent herself and her community in a much bigger way.

two important figures to discuss. Your second paragraph is too short given the instructions. Try to add some personal reaction, and perhaps compare the topics to earlier decades or to more recent times.
