The devil in the blue dress is a great film, now one of my favorite with Denzel Washington, in this film it showed how being in the wrong spot in the wrong time back in the day could put colored people in a crazy situation , although they knew that Denzel Washington was innocent they planned to frame him just in order to have someone to charge. They didn’t care if he really did it or how he would suffer they just wanted someone of color to blame it they didn’t find the actual killer, during the movies Denzel was working for the police that was trying to set him up with murder if he did not cooperate. In the devil in the blue dress the film showed how people of power can be just as wrong and dirty as anyone else. The movie sent a strong message during that time due to how police treated and looked at blacks. Police and colored individuals didn’t have a great relationship at that time and rap and movies really only made it worse even started riots and etc.The devil in the blue dress Also showed how segregation still had a tole on things when I heard a lot about Denzel saying , “ I would be dead if seen here in day with you” referring to a white woman, it made me realize how serious things were that and made me feel that people still didn’t feel as Free.
Glad you liked the film. In these responses, I'd like you to elaborate on the film's place in the bigger picture of African American cinema. Imagine yourself in a 1990s audience. What is significant about this film? This director? How does it fit into Denzel's career?
