For my final project, I have decided to do a paper, as I believe writing will better suit the topic and I tend to ramble in speech when I'm passionate about a topic.
I want to explore the 2011 film The Help, based upon the best-selling novel. The film is both acclaimed and heavily criticized. I would like to explore themes in the film such as the mammy stereotype, the Huck Finn fixation, white saviorsm, as well as the film's handling of the civil rights movement. I am also interested in exploring the arguments for and against the film.
