For my final project I would like to write an essay examining and analyzing Jordan Peele and his filmography from the recent years. I believe that almost all of Peele’s work has underlying messages that are meant to be understood after analyzing the film closer. I don’t think he is straightforward with how his films work in the sense of, you go to a theater, watch a movie, and leave knowing everything about the film. I think all of his films require multiple viewings to get the proper understanding and full theme out of them. I believe his films are some of the better of this age. I want to take a step back and dive into how his films connect to things we have learned throughout the semester. I think all that we have learned leads up to how he came to be where he is today, and why the film industry gives him the opportunity to make the kind of films he does.
Good topic for analysis. I assume you are limiting your paper to his three films as director. Or will you look at his writing and acting?
I encourage you to look up other critics to see what they've said, and perhaps find something to launch your own analysis. This will help keep it focused, rather than attempting to approach too many elements in his works.
FYI, Whitt Sheumaker is considering an analysis of Nope. You two might want to exchange notes during your process.
