For my Final Project, I would like to do a video essay on the film Paid in Full. The reason I chose this film is because it has many elements that are key to making a good "black movie" and because it has sentimental value. The story is based around the main character Ace, who is living in Harlem working regular jobs just to get by. When he sees one of his friends Mitch who he knows is selling drugs reach a lot of success in his business. He then joins him and builds an empire. The film's key elements are based on family, Love, hate, Betrayal, and loyalty. This story is truly one of a kind and I would love to examine it further and get into the creators mind.
Just now saw this post. I was looking for proposals a few weeks earlier.
I don't know this film, but it sounds interesting. Be sure to relate your analysis to the African American experience, not just as a stand alone movie.
