Describe the potential controversy regarding Denzel Washington’s performance in Training Day.-
The character that Denzel Washington played in the movie Training Day created by Antoine Fuqua was clearly a 'Buck" character, Bogle explains that Denzel's character is Highly sexual, violent and brutal to the core and preys on his own community. Let alone a black man is a cop and is a violent and corrupt cop at most. The film shows a rookie cop played by Ethan Hawke learning the ropes from Denzel's character who is not afraid to do things his own way no matter what illegal or cynical things he has to do.
My favorite part of this chapter was reading about Chris Rock and his come up in the Film and Stand-up industry. I myself am a big fan of comedy and Chris Rock in general so reading about how Chris Rock in the 80's wasn't getting any big deals and was trying to make it by doing guest spots on Martin and Fresh Prince and eventually started to get hits in the mid 90's and the one and only Richard Pryor was quoted saying "Does he remind me of myself? I'm afraid so." Saying that he likes what Chris is doing and his new impact on that generation alongside Dave Chappelle.
