Humanities Temporal Range
John Green describes that the history of earth can be put into one year with humanity being on the very last day, December 31st. Earth will always continue living as long as there are multicellular organisms; even though humans widespread narcissism makes it seem as though humanities end, is an all encompassing end. Although more complex organisms tend to last shorter than simpler ones, humanity is unique and John Green believes we have the persistence to survive for a very long time.
Green once went to a science center as a child and learned about the timeline of the sun engulfing earth. He thought about this for a long time, Earth's end or to be truthful, humanity's end. Many people frequently think about the world ending and it has been that way for hundreds of years throughout different time periods. It is something that some even spend most of their life contemplating. The truth is though, humanity is really only concerned for ourselves. John shed so much light on the fact that despite many catastrophic events on this Earth, there was still life. Humanity now almost only causes our own problems. If humans are so concerned about life, then we must make change. We have the ability to change as the universe does and the ability to keep up with it. Everyone just needs to get on board.
I genuinely believe this review was a great take on life. I believe that we as the human race tend to forget that the Earth does not need us. Even after our extinction, the Earth will continue on with different life. Life is what we make it and this review shows that change can only happen if a person is willing to put in the effort. Like John Green said, we are one of the most interesting things to ever happen to Earth. We are the only organisms in the known universe that knows about the universe. John Green gives our ability to survive four stars and I have to agree with him. One thing we have always been good at really is persistence.
