I really loved watching Love and Basketball, I found it to be very heartwarming and truly romantic at parts. I felt captivated and entertained the whole time, I was pleased by the pacing of the film. I did think that the ending was kind of rushed to a conclusion, though sweet, not realistic. Quincy’s situation with his fiancé was pretty complicated and it would have been more than just a game that would have been needed to make that decision. I also thought it was interesting that this was one of the first sport movies I've seen and there was not a lesson or focus on teamwork, it really made it seem like it was on Monica to succeed. I really like that because it is true in these professional sport teams, teamwork is important, but you could easily be replaced so you have to show your worth. I thought the chemistry between Quincy and Monica was outstanding, I really believed in their love the whole film. I loved the confrontation between Monica and her mother during the film because they are both sort of in the wrong. The emotions that came out of these scenes were so powerful and seeing her mom try and repair their relationship was very touching. This was my favorite film we have watched in class so far.

Sufficient response, but I wish you would relate it to the big picture of African American cinema, or perhaps female directors in this case.
