The Internet- AJ Schwabe

This chapter starts by talking about the first time the internet was set up in their homes and how he remembers his dad, despite lots of time piecing together complicated mechanisms, assembled the parts required to make it function. He eventually learned to navigate the internet with ease and started meeting new friends through chat rooms and exploring the new knowledge with the touch of a couple of keys. As the years went by he started realizing the negative effects of being a part of the internet by stating he doesn’t enjoy the methods of learning and developing opinions through machine programming. I believe Green was inspired to write about this topic because he has seen the effects of learning from only one source. It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale. Green realized this and adapts by expressing his concern and pushing the need for human interaction as a source of learning. This develops his meaning for a life of significance by allowing him to take into consideration other people’s point of view. He can then begin to interpret them for his own personal meaning and decide which ones are most important when compared to his morals and ideals. This topic is particularly meaningful to me because I also get caught up in technology which sometimes inhibits my ability to explore the real world. I have become obsessed with online entertainment and social time that isolates myself from others, so this chapter was a fantastic eye opener. I feel as if everyone at some point of their lives needs a reminder to refocus on what is truly relevant in their lives. I give The Internet three and a half stars.

I really like this response. Although it again falls just short of the 300-word minimum, you do a good job conveying your personal reaction.
