The movie Get Out reminds me of an inverted version of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” with how the family behaves with the black male leads. The cast of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” action within the movie are racially motivated while acting with various levels of concern. The Drayton family are wary of John’s intention with their daughter and as a modern audience may not like their main reason for disliking the marriage between John and Joanna. But there are some reasonable concerns that a modern audience can relate to, especially when it's your child who decides to get married to a widower after knowing them for 10 days. Whereas the cast of “Get Out”, are overly supportive of the main couple. Although the family is very supportive and accepting of Chris, you can feel something was always a bit off. They would lean in too hard on how accepting and cultured they were. From Dean’s comments trying to mimic urban lingo to relate to Chris' background and his family history with Jesse Owens, Jeremy’s physical appraises and to Missy’s intrusion in Chris’ smoking. They are presented as showing admiration and giving advice but comes of as critiques and let me feel on edge despite their warm welcome.

Good comparison. You could almost say Get Out is a horror movie even before the supernatural elements are introduced to the story.
