The Internet

I think what inspired John Green to write about the Internet was his curiosity about it. The internet is so vast and contains so much information. He began to realize it is much more than just a browser for information, it is full of endless resources and capable of so much more. He explains where he became enveloped with the internet from a website. He found comfort within it. On it he found friends, got a job, and made money from it. He described how he did not feel judged anymore and spent a large amount of his time on it. But he also described his acknowledgement to the fact there is problems with the internet. It can be too personal and take away the feeling of privacy. He gives the internet three stars. I do not think this chapter showed or helped him live a life of significance. I think it showed him and revealed the problems with the internet and how we can become consumed by it. We should never feel so dependent on one thing. I think our world today especially forgets that. We feel as we could not live without modern technology or internet. Do I think we should get rid of it? No, I do think it is a tool, but it should not be taken advantage of. I would give this chapter 2 stars. I do not think it in anyway inspired my life of significance. It did not alter my thinking too much either. I do not have a positive view of the internet. I think it leads us to live a somewhat artificial life and takes us away from reality. That’s not how anything should be. It makes some of us put on a front, it is hard to reveal what is facts and what is false, and takes away from life.
