I am going over the very brief chapter named the Mountain Goats. I originally thought this chapter would be focussing on actual mountain goats, however it is actually on a band called the Mountain goats.
John talks about how The Mountain Goats have helped him throughout different peaks and valleys in life. He mentions first how they were with him as his kids were born, but then mentions how they were with him while he was spiraling out of control with a different song.
I think Green was inspired to write this chapter as a devotion to The Mountain Goats, his favorite band. I do not think The Mountain Goats help Green to live a life of significance, but I am not saying that they are not extremely important to him.
I did not find this chapter very interesting. It is too short and did not provide much detail on who The Mountain Goats actually are. This was my least favorite chapter that I have read and I would give it 2 stars. John Green gave it 5 stars and I understand why, but it’s hard for me to leave a great review with the little detail presented in the chapter.
