As a big horror fan, it's kind of crazy that I am just now seeing this film for the first time. I have watched Jordan Peele’s Nope and was very impressed with his directing and horrific visuals. When watching Get Out I was also impressed by his style of horror. Though I feel he has grown as a filmmaker since this film, I have to say that this screenplay is actually still so incredible. My only fault with the movie is how straightforward it is, I never really got surprised besides the part where Rose revealed that she was in on the whole thing on the stairs. That being said, the horror is still very effective, and the film kept me engaged the whole time. The acting in this film was also really good. I found it interesting how a good number of the actors in this film were from comedic acting pasts like Jordan Peele was. These actors being Bradley Whitford, Lil Rel Howery, Lakeith Stanfield, and Catherine Keener. Peele is very good at building tension and suspense in his own unique way. He’s more patient in building up the suspense in order to get a good efficient scare to his audience. This film was very relevant during the time of its release, but I would say it is just as relevant today as it was before. Also, It surprised me that the white people wanted to become the black people and use their bodies as their own, it was a creative and horrific idea that only Jordan Peele could create.
Glad you liked the movie. I'm not sure I agree with you when you say it was straightforward. I can't think of many movies with multiple twists that are still so organic to the content. To me, Nope and Us have twists that are more "out of left field."
