The movie get out was on of my favorites not only because it was horror but a more different type of horror. Get out is the type of movie that causes you to think differently than normal. I feel that get out is a conceptual based movie and depending on your personal perspective will determine how you interpret the movie, and I think that is the art of it. In more so recent times horror has shifted from fairytales and ghost to more so spirits and humanly things like dolls and demons, paranormal activity and etc. Get out falls into the new stage of horror and I say this because not only are we scared that it’s in a movie but we’re scared because while watching we have the thought wow what if this is real? . I personally am a huge conspiracy believer so get out was right up my alley, and hit the world by surprise in a good way and opened the eyes of a lot of people. Not only due to horror but due to the thoughts and emotional trauma put in through out the film. For example the parents house was obviously southern due to the woods and surroundings and they  had black house and yard workers. With the Boyfriend being black himself this immediately made him be more cautious And aware of his surroundings and that he may not be looked at to the same statue as others. I feel like scenes like this makes the movie more Intense because each scene could be interpreted in many different ways due to your personal Beliefs

Nice observations here. I'm glad it inspires some critical thought for you. It certainly does for me.
One thing I'm not sure about though--I don't think it is supposed to be set in the South. They drive to town from New York City. It seems like it's only a couple hours or so from the city. To me, it's almost more powerful if it is not set in the South, which would be too easy to criticize (however, it was indeed produced in Alabama).
