Get out is such a good film all around. I have been a fan of the director Jordan Peele for a long time. I used to watch his show on comedy central with Keegan Michael Key. This showed prometently in the scenes with the TSA agent. It was much-needed relief in the movie. The first time I saw it I was in a theater. It was such an immersive experience. The scenes of the sunken place were so amazing, the visuals and sounds made you feel like you were actually there. This was a horror film but it was different. As an African American male, I have always been worried about being in a white home in the same manner that the main character was. So for me, this wasn’t scary like haunting or spooky but more of this could happen to me. This is why this is one of my favorite black-directed films and really films in general. I also am a fan of another actor in the movie, LaKeith Lee Stanfield. He is in a show, Atlanta, directed by Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino. It is a very dramatic dark comedy type of show. His acting in Get Out is exceptional to what he did in Atlanta. He is a raising African American actor that I am excited to see in new movies.
Glad the film resonates with you. Interesting perspective about being a white person's house. The story is almost a horror movie in the first act, even before the supernatural elements are introduced.
