I read the chapter whispering by John green. He gave it a four-star rating. It was a very short and sweet chapter but by far one of the best chapters I have read in the book. He talks in the beginning about being busy and how time was so important to him. I do agree time is important and should not be wasted but it is also important not to over analyze and worry yourself too much. That causes stress. He then discusses how is three-year-old daughter whispers to him. He discusses how intimate and private the act is and how he missed whispers. After and during covid, close contact interactions were limited. We got used to just waving or touching elbows. I think what inspired his him is we take the small things in life for granted and don’t appreciate life enough. I think it showed him how to life a life of significance because we need to show our love for people we care about and acknowledge life is scary. There is an abundance of things to be scared about in today’s world. He talks about how listening is important in the end of the chapter because if you don’t you can miss all the “good stuff.” I give this chapter a five-star rating. Everything tied together so fluidly, and he couldn’t have said anything better. We tend to distract ourselves from what is worth paying attention to. This chapter is very fitting because covid still exists. My parents currently have it right now. It is scary how we have almost ignored it. But it reminds us to remember time is precious but also that we need to show our love and affection and appreciate the time we have with people. Nothing in life is guaranteed. We have to make the most of it.
Great response. I hope your parents recover soon. The pandemic has given us a lot to think about, some of which makes it harder to focus on our own lives and goals relating to significance.
