The movie had family conflicts and racial conflict that helped relate to what the audience goes through. But mainly for the brown audiences. Despite the conflict I felt eager for the couple to get back together and succeed. But in the end of the movie the father was not able to get out of jail. As a person that used to seeing successful endings, this came as unexpected. This reminded me of the movie Avengers Infinite War. I would say many aren't used to bad endings but this is what happens in the real world. As this relates to the audience, this can show other races of color the feeling of what failure and struggle feels like. I feel the movie effectively gave the audience and myself of what that means. A concept I would like to discuss is the importance of a strong family. The main family in this movie stuck together to give it their best to save their son from jail. Even the mom bent over backward to go out of the USA which they barely had the money to do. The amount of support it takes to keep the family together through these tough times is incredible. It is very apparent that this family understands responsibility, love, and determination which this movie effectively gave.
Interesting reaction. Your comparison with Avengers Infinity War is a little confusing. Are you just noting how they both have unhappy/unresolved endings? I guess that makes sense, but there are many other films that have unhappy endings that might make better comparisons.
