Airbnb

I don’t use Airbnb often. I’ve only used it twice to book a house, but I’ve kept the app on my phone because I like the logo so much.

What draws me to it is the simplicity of it. It’s just one continuous line, but it does a good job of communicating what the company is and what their overall style is. Airbnb’s mission statement is “to live in the world where one day you can feel like you’re home anywhere & not in a home, but truly home, where you belong.” To me, the logo could be a teepee or hut, somewhere for you to stay. It also resembles an upside-down heart, communicating that the company is caring, soft, and promotes community. The color also conveys the company’s message. The shade of red is not too aggressive.

From this logo, I learned that a logo doesn’t have to be bold or provocative to make a statement. A simple logo can communicate a message as effectively as a striking logo.
