Give an example of a formative and summative assessment that you will use in your online course.

My students are often so focused on the grade they receive on assignments that they pay little attention to the descriptive feedback I give them. For lesson planning assignments, I’ve adopted the practice of giving feedback on the plan based on the grading rubric but WITHOUT a numeric grade. Students then have the opportunity to revise their plans based on the feedback, I’ve given and then I assign a grade.

An example of a formative assessment I can use in an online course is homework assignments where design is implemented using online simulation tools. The tools will simulate engineering principles implemented to test a hypothesis.

An example of a summative assessment I can use in an online course is online simulation tools as well. I will reverse the idea of testing by proving beforehand an empirical project that is real-world and have the student to simulate the project and come up with the answer that has been proven already to test their understanding.
