Formative and Summative Assessment
Students provide a summarized blog posts that incorporate the theoretical aspects of the readings with their own personal analysis of the film. During this time, the blog will be the method which to evaluate the student's review and application of the material in a concise, articulate paper, where I'll provide feedback on the students analysis. The final paper will be the summation of all of the work, reflective of the changes, previously given notes, and learned modes of analytics throughout the course.

- blogsI've used blog posts in several courses and I really like how making the writing less formal allows them to be more creative and write more easily. Unfortunately, they often fall off my radar and I don't use them well for formative assessment. That is, I typically grade them at the end of the semester w/0 offering feedback as the posts are rolling out through the semester. Do you have a strategy for providing formative feedback during the course?
