Copyright Challenges with Research

I want to give you guys a synopsis of what I read about the access to information that researchers find. Many people, including our class, have used creative commons in order to obtain a foundation to build off of for a specific project. How does it get there? No-name researchers dedicate their time to compile information to find the best evidence to whatever their goal is and post it to creative commons as a source of easier access. Let me back up a bit. Research is difficult to obtain and collect, especially if it's coming from various sources across all genres. These researches sometimes become spent of their work and want to share want they have worked so long to uncover to the rest of the world. However, there are rules to publicizing your work if it is desired by the publisher. The most problematic part of sharing your work is deciding upon the model that you would like to protect the work that YOU created or formed. Now, to your research, the facts and information found for this research can't be restricted. However, the research itself can have requirements for access. Whichever model the publisher chooses can change the direction and use of that information that he or she is trying to leak and for whatever reasons too. This issue will continue for a very long time because there is not a true solution that will fix all of it. For some, this structure may work for sharing there work, but it screws the rest of them. Please read more in this article that discusses more in depth the issues with research copyrights and the decisions that publishers may have to encounter.
