  1. Intervention Season 12: E2
I liked the episode I watched a lot because the story was interesting, and I was gaining knowledge about the drug (heroin). So much happened in the one episode I watched. You learned all about Dallas's background, her family situation, and her toxic relationships.  I will definitely  be watching more when i have time.

i agree the background and situation with friends and family have a bigger effect than i though in how some of these addictions form within these people.
  3. Season 19 Episode 5
I enjoyed the episode of intervention I watched because not only did you get the physical addiction of the drug, you got to witness the toll it took on her mentally that drug her through the dependency of the multiple drugs she took. This show really shows you the different types of people there is who face their addictions to drugs.
  4. Intervention
I enjoyed watching an episode of the intervention. When I get done with this semester and get moved into the house I am renovating I plan to watch all of them. It is very interesting how it betrays their addiction. Most of the show is very realistic and accurate. I only saw a couple things that was not real but most of the "normal" audience would not know any different. I watched an episode where it went through multiple peoples lives and their parents/family members tried to do an intervention on them accordingly. Many of the addicts just said they would go. One scenario while the guy was getting in the car to go to treatment he had second thoughts and ran off. I enjoyed this twists to the show because that incident is very realistic. It also gives the misconception that getting them into treatment is what is going to save them. This is not true at all. Getting them into treatment and offering them help is the only thing we can do as a parent or family member but that does not mean they are going to be "ok" or "get better". However going to treatment definitely can't hurt it can only help and its a step in the right direction. Also treatment is as good as one makes it. I have heard many excuses of why this treatment didn't work or why this other one wasn't for them. It is all bullshit, they just didn't want to and/or was not ready to get sober/clean.  I was told by an old-timer when I was first getting sober that "getting sober is easy, staying sober is hard". Which I have found out that this is very true. When you first get sober, you are on this so called "pink cloud" where you are so motivated to do the right thing and do whats best. But when things start not going your way and things get tough and you get complacent is when things will start hitting the fan. We are never cured no matter how long we stay off of the substance. NEVER. When I was in active addiction, I did not know how to live life on life's terms. While just getting sober didn't make it where that was not true. I had to relearn how to live life on life's terms not my terms. Sorry at this point I have gone on a rant but I enjoy talking/writing about these things because this is my life. I look at my past as a blessing because I can try to help people with my experiences. One more thing, when I am helping someone or sponsoring them the only thing I can offer them is my experience. I try to never tell them how they need to or should do something.

  5. Re: Intervention
Thanks Crawford!  Your experience is valuable and helps other students in the class to understand what a process it is to get sober and especially to stay sober.  We will all deal with addiction in some way in our lives.  Whether it is us or someone close to us, it will happen, and hopefully your wisdom and experience will help others!
  6. Re: Intervention
I really enjoy how they dive deep into how the drug habits have effected each person on an individual level and typically show what they were like before their drug use and show what they became afterward. I find it really intriguing that the use of a chemical can change so much about a person, and then even when they stop consuming that drug they still aren't the same as they were.
  7. Intervention
I enjoyed watching intervention, because it brought drug use and everything we learn in class to reality. In the second video I watched, they filmed a heroin addict and told her that they were just doing a documentary so she was her willingness to give her whole experience made it more interesting, but a little hard to watch also. Since we do focus more on the drugs in the class and not really the personal aspect of drug use for an individual, seeing how the family and friends in intervention had to deal with everything too shows how addiction affects more than one person. The growth and improvement from each individual after accepting help is amazing

I really enjoyed watching Intervention. Assigning things like this I feel is very beneficial. As students you learn class material through an interesting show. It is cool to witness things we have gone over in class in the real world. Addiction is all around you. People might think that they will never have to deal with it, but it will somehow impact your life. In the episode I watched the lady was a mother, grandmother, and a wife. Once she began to get addicted to alcohol, everything went downhill. Her marriage was in shambles and her family could not stand to be around her. It was awesome to witness the family calling an intervention because they want their mother back. Most people just need a little boost of help when dealing with addiction. Treatment and help of family support can truly have a lasting impact. It was awesome to see the transition of this women pre/post addiction. I have already watched 3 more episodes and plan to watch more.

  9. Re: Intervention
I enjoyed watching intervention because it gave me a glimpse into the real struggles and hardships people with addiction really go through. one specific example is seeing the relapse rate after the intervention and how it addiction affected that person even after the intervention. There is also multiple parallels between the class material and the behavior taking place within the addictive person.
  10. Intervention Dislike
As far as the show goes, I really enjoyed the episode I watched and the several others after that I did not write about. It was interesting to compare and contrast the materials in the episode and what we learned through this course. I did not like the whole idea of the actual intervention. I know interventions work for a lot of people but they would not work for me and did not work for the guy in my episode. The man in my episode actually did not go to treatment through an intervention he went by choice a few months later. The idea of the intervention is stressful and very uncomfortable as it is expected, yes, but I would not have responded well.
  11. Intervention (S1,E20)
I would have liked to see more in depth treatment of the intervention of Danielle. I wanted to see more of what happened when she returned home to her family and how the intervention played out with each member of her family. I wanted to know how she took what she learned at the treatment center and applied it. In my episode the person seemed to have fully recovered there was a 7 year update and I wanted to know what she did to stay on the right path. I liked how this series shows how the addiction plays out in their everyday life. I think it is interesting how some people are in such denial and also how family member and love ones are enablers and not even know it.
