Since I don’t really like the idea of my own house being haunted, I’m going to talk about the house my mom grew up in. Around 1878, Walter Fudge was born in South Carolina. Somehow he made his way to a small rural community in Alabama in the early 1900’s where he was the traveling doctor for the area. My great-grandparents ended up living next door to him and my grandfather was very close to him growing up. Dr. Fudge died in 1968 and the house was vacant for several years. In 1975, his daughter who had moved away, decided to sell the house to my grandfather because she knew Dr. Fudge would want him to live there. My mom has told me many stories about the idea of their house being haunted by Dr. Fudge. Any time they left for an extended trip, they would come home and the house would smell like medicine; they would turn off all the lights and they would come on during the night. In a century old house, the floors creaked and you knew who was walking through the house because the sound was unique to each person; there were times that the sound wasn’t any of the family members so they would just lay quietly and not investigate, letting Dr. Fudge walk around in his house. In old houses, every door has a screen door with a latch hook. The most convincing story was that on numerous occasions when they came home from vacation, ALL the screen doors were locked! Anyway, Dr. Fudge never harmed or tried to scare anyone in the family so he must have been more of protector. I guess if I was going to have an entity haunting my house, I would want it to be someone like Dr. Fudge.

I'd ideally like my house not to be haunted by anything, but my mom's old house that I grew up in was very spooky to say the least. I specifically remember being home alone one time when I was a teenager and clearly hearing someone walking around upstairs. I went up to check it out as I thought it was my brother, but no one was home. I try to forget that incident as it really scared me to death. There was never any paranormal disturbances so if it was something paranormal it was not evil or dangerous. It wasn't disturbing any of the family so since it was peaceful, there was no need to try to get rid of it.

I would want a ghost or supernatural being that haunts the outside of the house. The idea of the housing being safe but not being able to leave is even more horrifying to me. The idea of having to ether Challenged a supernatural horror, or come to your own cabin fever is quit a spooky one. I wouldn't want the being to be able to be defeated. I would want it to stay shredded in mystery.

My house would be haunted by a dog named "Fluffball." Fluffball accidentally got run over by a car, but his soul decided to linger in the house to keep his humans happy. However, when we moved in we adopted Fluffball into our family and he is practically the family pet and we have no desire to get rid of him.
