  • What's the deal with healthcheck?

-what happens when you don’t use it? Anything? Where is this info going? Why does it notify that you've been exposed, how does it know? Is it tracking you???? Why have none of my professors ever asked to see it?

  • Is guidesafe even real? No way those tests are real. I’d like to see one positive that came from those tests.

  • Are BSC students genuinely scared of contracting covid? Do they actually take it seriously or is it because they have to?

-anonymous poll??

  • Sexual assault on campus. A step by step guide of how to report and what to do when nothing is done.

  • BSC alum was the first lady of Costa Rica????? Why did we not know more about this?

  • BSC alum spotlight, what bsc grads are up to, where they are working, could potentially help with connections

  • First Presidential Debate Highlights

  • News in terms that college students care about. What these terms politicians use actually mean. A simple way for the average college student to become more politically involved.

  • An in depth story of campus cats, how did they get here, who are they, what are their personalities.

  • Around B’Ham, locally owned stores and restaurants in Birmingham, promote small business!

Several excellent ideas here. I'm especially intrigued by the idea of "news in terms that college students care about" and "a simple way for the avg. student to become involved." Do you have anything specific in mind? The concept seems gargantuan — like you could do a series. Meanwhile, chase these specifics, perhaps in this order:

    - Healthcheck/Guidesafe
    - Sexual Assault response on campus
    - Campus cats

In class I will address your ideas about BSC alumni and locally owned businesses. Don't let me forget.

Anything dealing with the legitimacy of guide safe and health check is definitely in the interest of the student body. Along with that, the opinion of others, including whether or not they're taking it seriously and if they're scared of contracting it could combine a lot of those aspects to get a general consensus of how careful or careless students are being.

Hey Ally! I am also interested in sexual assault on campus and think this would be particularly interesting since there have been recent national changes to Title IX. I am the president of BSC's Planned Parenthood Generation Action chapter, and we do lots of anti-sexual assault work on campus. Let me know if you need any resources or want to talk anything through!
  4. Re: Story Proposals and Questions I have
I know personally, I only do my healthcheck when a professor asks to see the green screen. My healthcheck app also glitched and said I was exposed twice in the past 7 days (which was completely incorrect). Are most students still filling it out every day? Have students given up on it? Does it help the school?

I think you could ask students around campus what they thought of the debate. Who did they think won the debate? Was Chris Wallace a good moderator? Did the debate change anyone's mind for who they're voting for?

The campus cats story could be interesting. You could ask professors who have been on campus for a while if the cats have always been here. I know several students like to put out food around campus for the cats. Does everyone like the cats?
