Your list is succinct and full of timely ideas. I like several of them! Go for one of the following, preferably in this order:

You know I'm in favor of a presidential yard sign story. For timeliness, this should probably come first.
    - Ditto 21st birthday in quarantine
    - What's up with the BSC library?
    - What's up with the BSC education department --  Is there anything different because of COVID? Are you an education major? I'm wondering if there's a story here. That is, is there a news hook that makes you want to focus on ED instead of history, MFS, business, etc.?

A few students suggested Greek life stories. Maybe that could be a team-reported piece?

Yes, I am an education major! I was just thinking about people's stories about teaching their students over zoom and all the crazy things that occur with students virtually, but maybe not?

Since you are an education major, that strengthens your position to approach this story. You would just want to disclose that.

And since it has the potential to be a big sprawling story, think of a way you could narrow it. Could it be a playlist? Like, "Six Songs that Describe the Way Fourth Graders Act on Zoom." Or maybe it's a how-to or a how-not-to? I think you'd just need to figure out the overall focus. Is it a collection of crazy things they've seen happen? Is it "Here's What Undergraduate Education Majors Could Teach Professional Educators"? Several directions to go...

The "Seniors, what's next?" story seems really interesting because I know I have talked to a lot of people who think we could be back to normal by second semester, and people who think things will be exactly the same. I'd be cool to see Seniors different takes on how they think their senior year will play out from here!
  5. Re: Story Ideas
Presidential election yard signs is something I think could be really telling, particularly is you were able to find patterns according to neighborhoods!
  6. Re: Story Ideas
I think you're 21st birthday could be a great story. Did you go anywhere or stay at home? Being a triplet also adds a whole new dimension to turning 21. What was that like to share that experience with two other people?

The "Seniors, whats next" story may be a scary story to write. It is a very precarious time to emerge into the job market. What do BSC grads plan to do? If they aren't going to grad school, what's the plan? Does anyone have a plan? What is the mood for most seniors? Is it hopeful or scared?

I would love to know what's going on in the library. I have only been in their once this year to print something. Does anyone still go in there? Are study rooms open? Are the desks and tables cleaned regularly? Is their a capacity?

  7. seniors, what's next
At the risk of sounding like the fun-crusher, I think a "Seniors, what's next?" story is too noodle-y. Seniors don't really know what's next under normal circumstances and our present circumstances are anything but normal. Besides, you have several other specific ideas that are so great!
