In terms of being able to gather the most information, I believe that your first three choices would be easier to research.

I think a lot of people would be interested in hearing about Jan-Term.

  3. Re: Story Ideas
I agree that a lot of people are confused and curious about what Jan-term will look like!

Indeed: What's up with intramurals? That's the story I hope you'll follow first. Are they happening? Are they scheduled to start? What are other colleges doing? I'd want to read close comparisons. How Alabama or Auburn handle intramural sports would not interest me in a BSC story as much as a brief survey of intramurals at Samford or Rhodes or any schools in the Associated Colleges of the South.

And a Jan term story sounds great too. What are the options? When are the deadlines? What the hell is everybody doing? Or planning to do? This connects to one of your classmate's ideas about study "abroad" during a pandemic. But you could just as easily focus on the local options. Maybe travel restrictions will force professors into making more creative offerings? One hopes.

Love the Jan-Term idea Bruce. While the school still may not know what it looks like, they have not given us much information about what our options would be. I think that would serve all students.
  6. Re: Story Ideas
I haven't heard anything about Jan-Term this year. It's usually a laid back experience that only freshmen and senior business majors take part in. Seeing as their are no travel abroad oppurtunities, will more students try to be back on campus this year? Will more classes be available?

As far as I know, the NBA bubble was a shining example of quarantining done right. It seemed to keep all athletes, coaches, and refs healthy. Can we learn anything from the bubble? Were there any mishaps? Did all athletes follow the rules?

I'm thinking about writing about how our caf experience compares to other schools dealing with covid. Everyone at BSC complains about the caf so I want to see how other schools are dealing with feeding everyone with covid going on.
