Reflection

I have loved getting the opportunity to create graphics for the Greater Birmingham Arts Education Collab and being able to use my creativity to market this organization. I have also been researching grants to learn more about them and to assist my supervisor with extracting important deadlines from the different organization's websites. I have enjoyed getting to create the graphics the most and making several that are different with different templates/styles for my supervisor so that we can decide which one would look best and which would attract the most views.

I am going to spend the rest of the time I have during this internship making the most of what I've been doing. I will be creating more graphics and putting together a spreadsheet for my supervisor that has important deadlines for their organization to receive grants from other organizations. I have enjoyed this opportunity to be able to learn more about what this organization does for school districts that cannot afford arts education. I want to end my internship in a positive way and know that I learned as much as I could from these few weeks.

I love your goal of putting together a spreadsheet for your supervisor for future deadlines! I think that’s a great way to make sure that your work has an impact even after you’re internship is completed. I sometimes get caught up in feeling like this month has been too short for me to achieve all that I wanted, but preparing documents for the future is a great way to ensure that you’re adding to the organization and their productivity in the coming weeks. I might use this idea for my internship as well, so thank you!

I'm glad you've enjoyed your work. What about the work do you enjoy? The creativity? The collaboration with your supervisor? The marketing? Try to pinpoint the characteristics of the work that you enjoy and the skills or traits that make you good at it.

Your internship sounds so important and interesting!! Most people would completely over look a job like this, thinking that they didn’t do much or simply not know that it was a company. I am interested in if this is something that you will look to do in the future as full time job post college or if you’ve learned about grants in the process?
